Sketch Challenge

>> Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Hi everyone its Bron here today. This fortnights challenge has been set by Melissa and she has designed an awesome sketch for us all to play along with. I had so much fun with this sketch as I would not normally do a tag so I suppose you can say it brought me out of my comfort zone. Of course if you want to incorporate the tag into a card or layout you can too.

Anyhow here is my tag using the sketch for you:

I have used the following copics
Hair - E99, E97, E79, Y21 & Y11
Skin - E00, E11, E21 R20 & R11
Jeans - B97, B95, B93 & B32
Top - R85, R83 ^ R81
Headphones and backpack - R32, R20, C9, C7 & C5

To save you going back through the posts (although you should as there has been some great inspiration provided over the last few days) here is the sketch

So please make the time and join in with the sketch this fortnight, I look forward to seeing all your interpretations.

Now don't forget to stop by the Mad for Makers Store as Sammi has some very cute new stamps in and of course she can provide for your co pic needs!

Have a great day.

Tag Sketch Challenge

>> Monday, May 30, 2011

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to another week at the Mad for Markers Blog & also the start of a new challenge.
As you will see from the previous post, this fortnight is a sketch challenge.

I had a great time creating this tag for you.
I decided to use all white products & colour them to suit.
The background was coloured using reinkers in a spray bottle, saturated the card stock & dried it with the heat gun. I just love the effect of the watermark that this technique gives.

Copics Used:
Skin: E0000, E000, RV00
Clothes & Shoes: RV32, RV34
Flower: RV32, RV24, YG61, YG63
Tag, layered card & Ribbon: RV32, RV34 (Reinkers in spray bottle)

We would love to see the creative ways you use this sketch.
Make sure you check back on the blog each day for some great inspiration from the design team.

Don't forget to stop by at the Mad for Markers Online store for all your copic needs. Sammi even has a new line of stamps.

Until next time
Melissa

Colouring Twine

>> Friday, May 27, 2011

It's Friday, it's Friday. Means a weekend of relaxation is just around the corner! But I couldn't let Friday go without sharing my way of using Copics to colour all kinds of things!

Marcia here and today I am sharing how I use Copics to colour twine. I use a white/cream twine ALOT (cheap, only $4.00 a roll at Bunnings for 100m!) and love to colour it to suit the project I am working on. The beauty of Copics is that the ink is permanent, so it's suitable on almost anything.

So I started with this

Photobucket

and came up with this

Photobucket

My suggestions are these:

* Make sure you have scratch paper underneath what you are working on
* If using a light coloured ribbon, use a colour one shade darker than what you would like the end result to be
* For a softer effect pour some of the colour refill into a Mini Mister and spray onto your ribbon/twine. It will take longer to dry, but the effects achieved are pretty awesome.
* Don't be afraid to mask off parts of the ribbon for a pattern or to leave some blank spots for a distressed look.

Okay, there you have it. I hope I have inspired you to do something new .... would love to see what you achieve with this technique.

Happy Friday to you all!

Hi there Copic fans!!

The challenge this fortnight has been to colour your embellishments with your Copic markers and I have managed to create a little something that hopefully shows you just a little example of just how versatile these fabulous markers are.

You can see a card here that I made last week using my Copics to colour the ribbon and lace.

This week I decided to create a tag/book mark.

I used "Club Kid" from Kenny K

I have coloured the lace and flower with R81

and the rhinestones that were a very pale pink I darkened by colouring them with R83

Copics used to colour this image

E000, E00, E11,
 R20, R81, R83, R85
E25, E27, E29,E30, E31, E33, E35, E37,

There is still a little time left to enter the current challenge over at Mad For Markers.

We would love to see the creative ways you can use your Copic markers to colour embellishments.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Michelle :-)

Colouring Embellishments Challenge

>> Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Hi Copic Lovers,

It is my turn to post today about our current challenge at Mad for Markers.
To enter the challenge you need to colour some embellishments on your card.

I have some male cards to share today.  Nothing pretty unfortunately!
On this first card I coloured in the chipboard photo corners with Copic marker Black 100.
I also coloured in the Kaisercraft rhinestones too.  They were the crystal clear ones and I made them black and masculine too.

Then I have another two masculine cards shown below where I have coloured the rhinestones with Copic marker Olive G99.

Two very simple ways of colouring embellishments with Copics.

Link up your creations to be eligible for the prize!

Thanks for looking and happy colouring,

Alicia xx
