Sketch Challenge

>> Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Hi everyone its Bron here today. This fortnights challenge has been set by Melissa and she has designed an awesome sketch for us all to play along with. I had so much fun with this sketch as I would not normally do a tag so I suppose you can say it brought me out of my comfort zone. Of course if you want to incorporate the tag into a card or layout you can too.

Anyhow here is my tag using the sketch for you:

I have used the following copics
Hair - E99, E97, E79, Y21 & Y11
Skin - E00, E11, E21 R20 & R11
Jeans - B97, B95, B93 & B32
Top - R85, R83 ^ R81
Headphones and backpack - R32, R20, C9, C7 & C5

To save you going back through the posts (although you should as there has been some great inspiration provided over the last few days) here is the sketch

So please make the time and join in with the sketch this fortnight, I look forward to seeing all your interpretations.

Now don't forget to stop by the Mad for Makers Store as Sammi has some very cute new stamps in and of course she can provide for your co pic needs!

Have a great day.

Tag Sketch Challenge

>> Monday, May 30, 2011

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to another week at the Mad for Markers Blog & also the start of a new challenge.
As you will see from the previous post, this fortnight is a sketch challenge.

I had a great time creating this tag for you.
I decided to use all white products & colour them to suit.
The background was coloured using reinkers in a spray bottle, saturated the card stock & dried it with the heat gun. I just love the effect of the watermark that this technique gives.

Copics Used:
Skin: E0000, E000, RV00
Clothes & Shoes: RV32, RV34
Flower: RV32, RV24, YG61, YG63
Tag, layered card & Ribbon: RV32, RV34 (Reinkers in spray bottle)

We would love to see the creative ways you use this sketch.
Make sure you check back on the blog each day for some great inspiration from the design team.

Don't forget to stop by at the Mad for Markers Online store for all your copic needs. Sammi even has a new line of stamps.

Until next time

Colouring Twine

>> Friday, May 27, 2011

It's Friday, it's Friday. Means a weekend of relaxation is just around the corner! But I couldn't let Friday go without sharing my way of using Copics to colour all kinds of things!

Marcia here and today I am sharing how I use Copics to colour twine. I use a white/cream twine ALOT (cheap, only $4.00 a roll at Bunnings for 100m!) and love to colour it to suit the project I am working on. The beauty of Copics is that the ink is permanent, so it's suitable on almost anything.

So I started with this

Photobucket

and came up with this

Photobucket

My suggestions are these:

* Make sure you have scratch paper underneath what you are working on
* If using a light coloured ribbon, use a colour one shade darker than what you would like the end result to be
* For a softer effect pour some of the colour refill into a Mini Mister and spray onto your ribbon/twine. It will take longer to dry, but the effects achieved are pretty awesome.
* Don't be afraid to mask off parts of the ribbon for a pattern or to leave some blank spots for a distressed look.

Okay, there you have it. I hope I have inspired you to do something new .... would love to see what you achieve with this technique.

Happy Friday to you all!

Colouring Embellishments Challenge

>> Tuesday, May 24, 2011

Hi Copic Lovers,

It is my turn to post today about our current challenge at Mad for Markers.
To enter the challenge you need to colour some embellishments on your card.

I have some male cards to share today.  Nothing pretty unfortunately!
On this first card I coloured in the chipboard photo corners with Copic marker Black 100.
I also coloured in the Kaisercraft rhinestones too.  They were the crystal clear ones and I made them black and masculine too.

Then I have another two masculine cards shown below where I have coloured the rhinestones with Copic marker Olive G99.

Two very simple ways of colouring embellishments with Copics.

Link up your creations to be eligible for the prize!

Thanks for looking and happy colouring,

Alicia xx

Hi Copic Lovers

Gee the weeks are flying by, here we are at the second week of our "Colouring Embellishments" Challenge.

I hope everyone is having fun with this challenge. There is so much you can do and colour to add to your creations.

I decided to do something plain today. I have this digital image which I got for free and decided I just want it to be simple. I have added a "dog tag" which is chipboard and I have coloured with my Copic Markers.
Copics used;
E70, E71, E74, E77, E79
C00, C1, C3.

You can colour just about anything with your markers, there are a few little tips you should remember though. When colouring embellishments whatever you are colouring will normally look a bit lighter than the colour of the marker, so always think about which shade you want it to be and pick a shade darker. The other tip I find is really important is Chipboard and cardboard will soak up a lot of ink so you may have to colour it a couple of times to get the desired colour and effect.

Make sure you check back on the blog each day for some great inspiration from the design team. You still have plenty of time to get your own creations in. We would love to see them!
Also hop over to our normal blog, there is always something happening on there, from great inspiration to tutorials to introductions http://www.madformarkers.blogspot.com/

Thanks for Dropping in.

Colorful Butterflies!

>> Friday, May 20, 2011

Are you having fun with our new Challenge yet! There are so many embellishments that you can color with your copics.

So today I have gone with something a bit different from a card. I have been scrapping today and my page needed some colored butterflies to match my page so I have used YG17 and R24 to color up my two chipboard butterflies. I then stamped them with a script stamp and then used Dimensional Magic to gloss them up. I am really happy with how they came up.

Copic Colors Used:
R24, YG17

The beauty of Copic Markers is that you can always color up your embellishments to match perfectly with whatever you are doing! So make sure to get creative and enter into this fortnights challenge and for all your Copic Needs head over to the Mad For Markers Store!

Colouring embellishments

>> Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Hi everyone this is Bron (Bronwen) here with my very first DT card for you.

Our challenge for this weeks fortnight is colouring embellishments, easy peesy! I have a huge stash of plain white or cream flowers which I will colour to suit my cards.

So for my card today I have coloured up some of my flowers (the cherry blossom by adding a touch of pink the the edges, the dark pink flower ) and my flourish to match in with the papers.

Here is a close up of the flowers and the bottom of the flourish...

Now I used my dazzling diamond for this card (to the edges of each layer) but as the weather has been so yucky the photo does not really show this just makes it look like it has sand on it! Trust me in real life it is very blingy, LOL!

A bright colourful card for me but so much fun making it.

Copics used:
Skin - E00, E21, E11, R20 & R11
Hair - E29, E37, E35, E33 & E31
Jeans - B37, B32, B24 & B000
Top, R39, R85, R83 & R81
Sunflowers & Grass - Y17, Y11, G05 & G02
For the embellishments - Cherry Blossom - R20 & R32
                                   - Rose - R81
                                   - Flourish - R32, R20

I look forward to seeing every ones creations, don't forget to drop back each day for some new inspiration from the DT.

Have a great day, Hugs Bron xox

Happy Saturday everyone!!  This is Tanya and it's my very first post as a member of the Design Team.  I am super excited to be a member of such a great team and to share my creations with you!  My post will be a little short today as I'm preparing for my little one's fourth birthday so it's a little hectic around the house :)

Now I'm going to admit, that I'm chicken when it comes to coloring in an image all one color so for my card today the only thing that is colored in greys is my cute little hippo :)

Colouring Wild Sprout Elena using Grey Copics

>> Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Hi all, Susan here with my first post on the challenge blog as a Mad for Markers design team member. I am so excited to be here sharing my love of all things Copic with you! There are only a few days left to join in with the Grey Challenge so get your Copics out and have some fun with us!

I have used the new Wild Sprout Elena stamp from The Greeting Farm stamped on to X-Press It Blending Card and the sentiment is from the Creepin' Collection. I have feathered Elena's hair using V01 and C1. I had lots of trouble photographing this as the feathering wouldn't show up despite me travelling all around the house for a better spot! Anyway, I hope you can see the feathering in the photos below. I love how this turned out and I am really liking the violet and grey colour combination.
Here are some close ups of Elena's hair so you can see the feathering. I stamped her sunglasses, coloured them, cut them out and attached them using foam dots.

Copics Used:
Hair: V01, C1
Skin: E50, E51, R20
Clothes: C2, C3, C5, V15, V17
Sunglasses: V15, V17

Other Supplies:
DCWV Alphabet Stack paper, DCWV Nana's Kids paper, Frosted lace Stickles, Kaisercraft snow pearls, Prima flower, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Versafine Black Onyx ink (for sentiment), Foam dots

Colouring with Greys

>> Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Hi Copic Lovers,

It is Alicia here today...my post is running a little late...it is due to the hectic-ness of my life...sometimes I am struggling to keep up!

I had a really enjoyable time making this card.  It was a special order for a lady who wanted a birthday card for her friend of hers who loves cooking.  This is my first time at every colouring a whole image in grey...well I added a couple of colours as well.  I was trying to go for a Sepia look like the photographs that also have little bits hand painted colour in them...do you know the ones I mean.  the really old photos.  I know my Mum has some really old ones with hand painted colours on them.

In my collection of Copics I have the warm greys and the cool greys so I went with the warm greys in this card.  The colours I used are:

Greys: W-1, W-3, W-5, W-7
Other colours: R20, E35, E33, E31, R29, R59

This was a really fun challenge!
I recommend you have a go!
I loved it.
Thanks for looking and happy colouring.

I Saya Little Prayer For You..........

>> Monday, May 9, 2011

Good morning all Copic Lovers

Well here we are at the beginning of another week. I can't believe we are in May already. Where in the world has the year gone. Before we know it, it will be Xmas again. The world just seems to be flying bye. Blink and you will miss it.

I hope everyone had a lovely Mothers Day yesterday. Nothing like getting a bit of a sleep in and then a little boy waking you up with a big smile, a "Happy Mothers Day Mummy" and brekky in bed, even if it was a little burnt! I hope everyone got to spend a little time with the special "Mother" in their lives, even if it was just a chat over the phone, or sitting and spending time remembering those special moments.

Now onto the current challenge here at Mad For Markers. This fortnight it is a pretty easy one. All you have to do is use your Grey markers on your creation. This can be done by either colouring the entire image with Grey markers, just a little bit of the image with Grey markers or even toning down your already coloured image with Grey's. The options are endless.

I chose this cut little image I got for free from a lovely lady called Beccy. She does some gorgeous drawings. I wanted to do an animal this time rather than a person. This one was just perfect for the Grey's.

I added some black and white paper and some flowers and my card was done. It was one of those quick and easy cards that I had finished in no time at all!

Copics Used;
N1, N2, N4, N7.

Make sure you check out this blog every day for some great Inspirational creations by the Design Team. We have some great ladies on board now and their creations are just stunning.

Also check out our normal blog here; http://www.madformarkers.blogspot.com/ There is a link to a great tutorial on Copic Oz. It is all about desaturating colours with Grey markers. It is a great help for this current challenge. Also remember to upload your creations you made on National Scrapbooking Day with your Copic Markers. We would love to see what you got up to over the weekend.

Thanks For Dropping By

Going Grey......Pretty Cool!

>> Saturday, May 7, 2011

Hiya! Teresa here with my first ever post for Mad for Markers.

In the current challenge, we're getting you to use your greys. I LOVE my greys, and my favourite thing to do with Copics is to make an image look like a photograh.  I discovered that using cool greys creates a black and white photo look, and using warm greys creates a sepia photo look.

I've used my warm greys (W1, W3, W5 and W7) to colour Edward in here:

This looks so much harder than it really is.  I always start by colouring the skin with my very lightest marker, hair and clothing with the next lightest, and then build up from there.

Here's a full pic of the card I made with Collage Press papers:

The stamps came out of a set from The Greeting Farm called Roll Call.  I'm sure if you ask really nicely, Sammi will order one for you :) Click here to contact her.

I hope you're getting loads of inspiration from the design team to create your own grey masterpiece. Don't forget to link your creation so we can all go and take a look. The inlinkz button is in the right sidebar of this blog. You've got until next Sunday (15th May) to enter.

I just love coloring with my Grey's. I love the whole Old Black and White photo look that you get from doing your image all in Grey's! I tend to mostly use my W Greys when I'm doing this, mostly because it still has a little bit of the warmth still there.

So here is a card I made for a friend who was after a baby card! I just Adore these Webster Papers, they are so Vintagey!

Copic Colors Used:
W9, W7, W5, W3, W1, W00

My card is colored using Copic MArkers and Express It Blending Card, all of which are available over at Mad For Markers!

So what are you waiting for, get coloring with your Greys, it really is just sooo easy and I guarantee you will become addicted to this way of coloring!

Now M4M's have now changed our Challenges from 4 weeks to only 2 weeks, so you have one more week to get your entry in. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

My Last Post for Mad for Markers

>> Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Hi all

It is with sadness that I have stepped down from my DT position, so this is my last post for Mad for Markers, I have been with Sammi for a year (where did it go), I have had a wonderful crafting journey, learnt so much and met some beautiful blogging buddies! Lucky enough to meet some in person when helping Sammi at Paperific.  I am sure gonna miss working with you girls!!!:(  You are an amazing talented bunch of crafters and lots of fun too!!!

They reason why:

For sometime now I have fancied having my own craft store and finally took the plunge and l am hoping to buy a craft business, I have never run a store before, so have much too learn and will be spending time with the owner learning as much as possible.  We will have to move house if all goes to plan so in trying to get the house and garden ready to sell, all the travelling, working for Edward etc, I just don't have the time to fulfill my DT duties properly.  So keep your fingers crossed everything works out. I will still be around in blog in between everything else lol!

Onto our new challenge here at  Mad for Markers which is colouring grey, now this was a challenge for me as I have never done this before, so here is my attempt I have used this image and sentiment from The Greeting Farm Set 'A Journey', which I thought was just perfect.  You do not have to colour all your image grey if you don't want, just use some grey copics somewhere on your creation, your papers don't have to be grey either, I think my mood was grey at the time, so everything was grey lol!

Copics  C00, C01, C03, C5, C7 (never used so few copics before lol!)

We have some new members to the team and the lovely Bron will be filling my Tuesday post over at Mad for Markers so don't forget to stop by and see the wonderful inspiration each day from the DT.

Copics and Xpress It Blending Card as well as LaLa Land Stamps and The Greeting Farm Images are all available from Sammi over at the Mad for Markers Store.

So get your grey copics out so the DT can see what beautiful creations you make.

Also note we will have a new challenge every FORTNIGHT!

Take CareX:)
